Capcom Finally Announces Dragon’s Dogma 2

It may be later than expected, but Capcom is officially announcing that a sequel to Dragon’s Dogma is currently in development.

The 2022 E3 but not E3 season was packed with events and game announcements, but one fanbase has remained patient through it all. The Dogma of the Dragons fans waited patiently through the big game showcases from PlayStation and Xbox without any announcement. They waited through Capcom’s own event as… Resident Evil was extensively exhibited, but no The Dogma of the Dragons† Then they waited patiently The Dogma of the Dragons‘s own 10-year anniversary event, the last scheduled event for now. And they were rewarded for their patience.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been officially announced. It is the sequel to the weirdest action RPG of 2012, created by original game director Hideaki Itsuno. It’s unclear why Capcom chose to make the announcement in a separate event that likely drew less general attention, but the opportunity did give Itsuno time to thank fans for their continued support over the past decade.

Details regarding Dragon’s Dogma 2 are unfortunately thin. The announcement was reserved for the end of the 10-year anniversary event, and all that was visible of the game was the logo. There was no trailer, no gameplay, no concept art, or any kind of teasing about what was to come in the game. However, after the event, there was confirmation that: Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be built on Capcom’s RE Engine, the engine used for all recent new and rebooted Resident Evil spell. Suffice it to say, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will look significantly better than the original game.

While Capcom was unable to share information about Dragon’s Dogma 2 itself, it wanted to take the opportunity to encourage players to try out the original The Dogma of the Dragons if they haven’t already. With that in mind, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen goes on sale for the modern platforms it’s available on, including PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. As an example price, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is listed for $4.79 on Steam and will remain discounted through June 23.

Everything Capcom has to offer in terms of promises regarding future news on Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a request to fans to follow the series on social media. Interestingly, the The Dogma of the Dragons Twitter account still contains information about Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and nothing about Dragon’s Dogma 2 yet.

The lack of information about Dragon’s Dogma 2 indicates that it may take some time before the game’s release date. While the 2020 Capcom leaks suggested that: Dragon’s Dogma 2 could arrive sooner or later, even 2023 can be optimistic right now. The Dogma of the Dragons fans have been patient thus far; Waiting another year won’t be much more painful.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently under development.
