Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course has gone gold, Studio MDHR announced on Twitter. The long-awaited DLC will be released on June 30, and its low price is somewhat surprising given its long development. The Delicious Last Course costs just $8 USD / $10 CAD / €8 / £6.79. You do need the original game ($20) to play it though. All things considered, you can play the entire Cuphead experience for less than $30. That sounds like a great deal!
The Delicious Last Course arrives five years after the original was released in 2017 and has received rave reviews. The DLC, unveiled at E3 2018, was originally set to launch in 2019; it has been postponed several times.
In the DLC, Cuphead and Mugman are transferred to a new island to help the Legendary Chalice re-enter the world of the living. Instead of collecting soul contracts from bosses, the heroes must collect ingredients that can be whipped up to create a pastry that will bring Mrs Chalice back to life for good.
During our recent hands-off preview, we saw Ms. Chalice in action as a new playable character. She has a few unique perks, including a double jump and a parry dash. You can play as Mrs Chalice during the new adventure and main campaign. In addition to the new playable character, the DLC adds a few new weapons and charms.
Of course, the DLC also brings new bosses in the fold. You can check out the gameplay of one of those new bosses, Mortimer Freeze, in the video above. Studio MDHR has stated that the new island is larger than the original islands.
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course will be available digitally at launch on the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, Switch eShop, Steam, and GOG. Physical editions will be launched at a later date.
