It’s a miracle more people weren’t injured in a crash, says aviation expert

Aviation expert Scott Harrington, who weighed in on the crash at Miami International Airport, told CBS News it’s a miracle more people weren’t injured in the plane crash.

“Absolutely, it looked like… again, I’m not quite sure about the details of this flight… but it seemed like the pilots did a good job of keeping it all in one piece. To stop it so that the aircraft can be stopped in a position so that rescue equipment can access the aircraft,” he said.

Pilots are trained to be calm in such situations, he added.

“We’re just hyper-focused. Our brain goes into flight mode. We are focused on the problem, focused on taking care of the solution as much as possible. When a mechanical part breaks, sometimes there’s not much we can do.”
