MSC Yacht Club rediscovers boutique sailing on a tall ship

MSC Cruises will debut its newest ship, MSC World Europein December 2022. When launched, the state-of-the-art vessel carrying 6,762 passengers will showcase so many new attractions and amenities that the line has dubbed it an “urban metropolis at sea.”

At the same time, the megaship will feature a refined version of the cruise line’s coveted “ship-within-a-ship” luxury enclave, aimed at guests who prefer a more sedate and intimate cruise experience. (As a result of the popularity of boutique hotels-within-hotels, MSC was one of the first cruise lines to introduce this enhanced offering over a decade ago.)

All the bells and whistles

With 22 decks and 430,000 square feet of public space, MSC World Europe is certainly large enough to offer something for everyone.

The 341-foot outdoor boardwalk stretches over seven decks with a variety of outdoor entertainment and dining options. One of the Promenade’s standout features that will appeal to thrill-seekers: an 11-deck high, spiral stainless steel “dry slide” on the outside of the ship.

While MSC is known for its Italian heritage and style, guests can enjoy cuisine from around the world with a choice of 33 onboard restaurants, eateries, bars and lounges.

The ship is family friendly and caters to toddlers, teens and snackers. The Luna Park Arena hosts movies, game shows, children’s activities and themed events for different ages. The children’s area, an indoor space of no less than 8200 feet, is being developed in collaboration with LEGO® and Chicco®. Older kids in particular will enjoy the bumper cars and high-tech gaming.

With major production shows every night of the cruise; a myriad of other nightlife venues; numerous pools and whirlpools; and a full-service spa with fitness and wellness offerings, adults will have something to do from morning to night. All this, combined with the thrill of visiting new ports ashore.

In addition, MSC has committed to World Europe the most sustainable ship ever with green technology integrated everywhere.

The Yacht Club: the best of both worlds

The Yacht Club is accessible with a “members only” keycard.

Refining the line’s previous experience on other MSC ships, the Yacht Club on MSC World Europe offers the atmosphere and amenities of a five-star hotel where guests can be pampered in the same way at sea.

The Yacht Club’s 152 suites offer some of the most lavish staterooms on the ship, including two Owner’s Suites with oversized outdoor areas with balconies. Guests can wake up to coffee from an ensuite Nespresso bar (or room service, if preferred) and unwind and get a good night’s sleep on Egyptian cotton sheets with plush pillows from the pillow menu.

In addition to priority check-in and check-out, as well as priority excursion departures, The Yacht Club’s service is personalized with 24-hour European-style butlers and a dedicated concierge available to help arrange reservations on the ship and Tailor-made shore excursions, tailored to the needs and interests of each guest.

Yacht Club guests also have access to their own members lounge, with complimentary drinks and gourmet small plates throughout the day; a private fine-dining restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; free access to the thermal suite and exclusive massage rooms at the MSC Aurea Spa; and a private pool at the bow of the ship with hot tubs, shaded cabanas, and a two-level sundeck with sweeping views of the sea.

Essentially, an upgrade to the Yacht Club translates into an all-inclusive, hassle-free experience with no long lines or wait times, minus the crowds often found at pools or on sundecks—to a cruise with more personalized service, higher crew-to- passenger ratios, numerous other benefits and privileges (including free internet and free alcoholic drinks and cocktails).

“MSC Cruises pioneered the ship-within-a-ship concept in 2008 when: MSC Fantasia entered service,” said Rubén A. Rodríguez, President of MSC Cruises USA. “After fourteen years and eleven ships, we have worked hard to refine the MSC Yacht Club concept even further. The new MSC Coast currently sailing from Miami with the largest, most glamorous Yacht Club we’ve built to date, and MSC World Europe is ready to take it one step further.”

When MSC World Europe first departing later this year, it will offer 7-night itineraries from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and Mediterranean cruises from summer 2023.

Is the cost of luxury cruising on a large boat worth it? It is difficult to calculate as MSC Yacht Club accommodations are much more inclusive than other accommodations on the ship. In addition, costs vary widely by sailing date, itinerary and cabin type.

Undoubtedly, an intimate enclave like this may be especially appealing to couples or others who want an adult-only getaway, and to grandparents (and other multi-generational groups) who want to share experiences with their adult children and grandchildren, as well as the opportunity to to spend separately in a more peaceful environment.
