‘Stunning Opportunity’ SCOTUS Will Overrule Roe v. Wade

Oklahoma Attorney General John O’Connor Called the Reversal of the 1973 Supreme Court Ruling Roe v. Wade decision a “staggering possibility” not just for the pro-life movement, but for all Americans.

“Because that abortion violence really cost us more than 60 million American lives,” O’Connor said Breitbart News Saturday host and Washington, DC Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle.

In May, an unknown source leaked a draft Supreme Court opinion regarding: Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organizationa case surrounding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban, and the key challenge to Roe v. Wade in decades. The leaked draft indicates that the courts are Roe v. Wade decision declaring abortion a protected right under the United States Constitution. Boyle noted that the official Supreme Court decision could come out next week.

If the Supreme Court rules that there is no right to abortion in the constitution, “the decision will fall back on the people and their elected legislatures,” O’Connor said, adding that abortion was previously a “national sin” and since the ruling of 1973.

“It was a ridiculous decision. It wasn’t a scientific legal opinion. It was a political popularity contest,” he said.

LISTEN:

“We must continue until we determine that abortion is a life-taking and not legal in America,” O’Connor continued. “And you know what, I think we can find other solutions that don’t involve taking a life in a crisis pregnancy.”

O’Connor told how Roe v. Wade was reported and said it all started about whether banning contraceptives violated individuals’ right to privacy.

“And so privacy became a woman’s right to her own body. What the US Supreme Court has not done – they said the unborn child is a human and the unborn child is alive, but the Constitution only protects individuals. So they did some word parsing… they played lawyer to the extreme and said that a living human being in the mother’s room is not a person,” he said.

O’Connor continued:

And it’s flawed, because even in our US environmental laws, if the Endangered Species Act protects a minnow, then that minnow’s egg is protected to the same degree as a full-grown adult minnow.

Also in our criminal justice system in the US, if you run a red light and you hit a lady in a van and she’s pregnant, you can be charged with two counts of manslaughter. So really, they had to play a massive game of mental twister to treat the child in the womb differently from endangered species and different from a whole bunch of criminal law.

O’Connor said former President Donald Trump’s appointment of conservative-leaning judges is a “great achievement of his presidency” and is largely due to the potential ruling.

“So the Supreme Court’s center of gravity shifted from liberal to more of a strict constructive view of the constitution and the role of the court,” he said. “We shouldn’t have the Supreme Court making policy in the country. They should interpret laws. The policy is supposed to be enshrined in law by our legislator.”

O’Connor is running for re-election and will face his competitors in the June 28 primaries in Oklahoma. The Attorney General is supported by pro-life groups, including the National Right to Life and Susan B. Anthony List.
