The stealth game genre has evolved over the decades, requiring players to take a calculated and cautious approach rather than firing with firearms as in most action games. This genre of gaming would not have been possible without the years 1998 Metal Gear Solid, developed by game icon Hideo Kojima. Franchises like Tom Clancy’s Splinter CellDeux Exdishonored, and more would eventually find inspiration in some form of this legendary game. One such game is unnoticeda game that embraces Metal Gear Solid‘s aesthetics and gameplay.

unnoticed is a new stealth action game from indie game developer Antonio Freyre and his company Merlino Games, with DigeratiDM taking over the publishing duties of the game. Merlino Games recently released a trailer for unnoticedwhere many fans can easily see how the game is a giant love letter to the original Metal Gear Solid† Like his inspiration, unnoticed will have all the elements that made the original Metal Gear Solid a much loved game, from the retro style graphics to how it plays.

unnoticed uses Metal Gear Solid‘s unique vantage point, where the player has a top-down perspective of the action, with the player character navigating around a base that pays tribute to areas such as Shadow Moses Island. Players will have to navigate through the various halls and corridors this game has to offer, avoiding the guards patrolling the area. There will be some enemies where the player will have to fight, with crazy boss encounters that wouldn’t look out of place with the metal gear franchisee.


a variety of Metal Gear Solid –inspired items such as rubber bullets and explosives are available to a player, with no lethal weapons available. Players must also rescue members of their revolutionary group, Los Desplazados. Saving these members gives them benefits such as boosting their overall health or key cards to access certain areas.

Other elements from Metal Gear Solid That unnoticed implements is the use of sound and how it affects a player’s stealth. Footsteps, items, surfaces and weapons will all emit sound, giving players the option to remain as still as possible or use sound in a tactical way to scare enemies away. The game will also feature several levels of difficulty, one of which is even capable of erasing the player’s saved file if an alert is triggered. Many fans are already praising the game, and many are raving about how unnoticed captures the look and feel of Metal Gear Solid‘s PS1 debut.


unnoticed is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
