WWE Raw Results, Recap, Numbers: Paul Heyman Adds Big Determination To Riddle vs. Roman Reigns

Less than a week after his chance to win the undisputed championship, Riddle faced a higher stake for his SmackDown match with Roman Reigns. On Monday’s Raw edition, Paul Heyman announced that in addition to meeting Reigns on Friday night, Riddle would never have a chance at the title again if he loses.

Riddle would build some momentum heading into the game with a big win against Ciampa. More important, though, was the message he sent Heyman, stating that Reigns would have to kill him to prevent him from taking a win on Friday.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

New provision added to Roman Reigns vs. riddle

The show opened with Paul Heyman appearing on Miz TV. Miz talked about the history of Money in the Bank and the probability of a successful cash-in according to the history of previous winners. Heyman said that if you cash out against Roman Reigns, your chances of succeeding drop to zero. Heyman then said he appealed to WWE management to add a stipulation to Riddle’s undisputed championship challenge against Roman Reigns on SmackDown on Friday. This brought Riddle to the ring to say he didn’t care about stipulations because Reigns would have to kill him to prevent him from winning the title. Heyman then explained that Riddle will either win and become champion or never have a chance at the title again.

riddle final Ciampa via pinfall with an RKO. Miz was on commentary for the match, but did not interfere with the match. Riddle is now speeding up the match against Reigns on Friday night.

Forced to become a main event player in the absence of Randy Orton, Riddle is up to the task. A big key is dropping many of Riddle’s more playful elements while focusing on proving himself as a dangerous high-level athlete. Monday was another step in that evolution, but WWE will likely look for an escape hatch on Friday, with Riddle winning by disqualification or counting until the stipulation becomes meaningless. Still, between a nice match with Ciampa and a good interaction with Heyman, there is little that stands out about how Monday night was handled. Grade B
